Growin’ Up | Carson, 1 year

1-year-old Studio Portraits | Ryan Klos Photography, Woodstock, IL portrait photographer.

Amazing that a year has passed since I first photographed Carson. As any parent will tell you, that time goes by in a blink of an eye. I can hardly believe my own kids are as big as they are! I guess this is one of the reasons to have professional portraits made, to make sure these moments are documented and preserved.

Carson’s Growin’ Up session was a studio shoot, and we got to use some new flooring options and background (that’s the hay door I picked up from a barn that was being demolished last year). While we had to work for the smiles, Carson’s session was fun and relatively quick, which is important for a 1-year-old. We got some great portraits marking his first year. Happy birthday, Carson!

Self-Portrait Project | November 2010

Nov Self-Portrait Project, by Ryan Klos

The latest installment of my Self-Portrait Project: November’s self-portrait was a one-light personal challenge. For the techies, it was lit with a single strobe (f/5.6) and 10° gridspot.

180 Wear Local Fashion Shoot | Woodstock IL

A few months ago I put out a call for models for a shoot I was doing in conjunction with 180 Wear, a trendy clothing store on the Woodstock square. We were looking for local teens to model clothes from brands 180 Wear carries like Hurley, Fox, Miss Me jeans, Roxy, Affliction and many others. Our shoot was scheduled to be a causal outdoor lifestyle shoot with the models posing on the square in natural settings. But on the morning we were to shoot, it was raining.

Despite the rain doing its rain thing, we pressed on. The models met at Studio 10 Salon & Color Spa just off the Woodstock square for hairstyling and light makeup. When they were finished, we headed to 180 Wear to get changed and set up our new shooting location.

Since the outdoor lifestyle set wasn’t going to work, we setup for more of a typical clothing fashion-type shoot inside 180 Wear. Having to be indoors didn’t put a damper on our fun or images—we had a great time and made some great images for 180 Wear to use on their Facebook page and soon-to-launch website. Our local models got some fun experience in front of the camera and got to try on lots of great clothes, too!

Have a look at our local models and a sample of some of the awesome clothing 180 Wear carries. If you’re looking for a new hairstyle, cut or color, check out Studio 10, they’ve been there for 25 years and know a thing or two about it 🙂
