Meet Sophie, a 2011 Woodstock High School senior who will be graduating in a matter of weeks. After rescheduling three times we finally managed to find a dry day for her session. While it wasn’t exactly warm and sunshiny (more like cloudy and 50s, it even sprinkled on the way there), we went out and shot anyway. I’m glad we did because we came home with some excellent portraits! Sophie brought along a vintage-ish red velvet chair which worked great with the muted sky and colors of our location. It was my first time shooting at Ryders Woods, but I’m fairly certain it won’t be the last.

One of this spring’s first outdoor sessions was with Lucas Pritts, one of my 2012 senior reps from Johnsburg High School. We met on April Fool’s Day for a few freezing portraits (40° and sprinkling), but it was so worth it! The moody sky and dreary atmosphere added to the unique look and feel of the portraits. After an hour we had to wrap things up—it was getting colder and started raining harder. The next day we went out again while the sun was shining and finished up his rep session. It’s safe to say we made some awesome senior portraits and had an experience Lucas won’t soon forget!
