Here’s another recent fall family session! We squeaked this session in just before Halloween and found some favorable light at Emricson Park in Woodstock. The sun is going down so fast these days so we only had about 40 minutes to shoot. Once the sun starts making its decent, you’ve got to move!

Given our short window of light, we got some wonderful family portraits and some great single shots of Emmett. And you gotta love the dad and son shoulder shot. Too cute! The whole family was such a blast to shoot as we coaxed smiles and laughter out of Emmett. The fading light really lends itself to black and white shots so I made several of them. Do you love it? I always dig that classic black and white look. Thanks again, Mike and Kristi!

Family Portraits in Crystal Lake

I’ve known Andy and Terri since gradeschool, but I hadn’t met their kids until we met for their family portrait session at Veteran’s Acres in Crystal Lake. It was such a joy to meet their children and to watch the entire family interact together. I love when families love each other so much you can see it.

We arrived at Veteran’s Acres just as the sun was making its way down past the hilltop, which made for some gorgeous light to shoot in. It might have been one of the very last days for great outdoor photos of the season, and we certainly took advantage and made some great portraits! We moved all over near and around the pond and worked several poses (I always like to make sure there are a few options to choose from). We had fun catching up between shots and ultimately made some beautiful family portraits. See for yourself 🙂
