Meet Katie, my 2012 Crystal Lake Central senior rep. We had a great session that started at Salon Energy in Crystal lake where Katie had her hair and makeup done. By the way, if you’re looking for a super-talented stylist and makeup artist, Sarah Safstrom at Salon Energy is your girl. She does incredible work! Be sure to tell her Ryan sent you!

After the salon we started shooting in downtown Crystal Lake for some urban settings. We found some great textures and a few places I hadn’t shot at before. From there we hit the Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake (another new one for me) and got some really unique portraits. Then, a short walk across the street and we did a few beach shots. All in all, Katie rocked her session and was banging out poses left and right, laughing and having a good time, the way a shoot should be!

Brand New | Celeste

Meet Celeste, the fifth child and fourth girl in her family. And while we’re talking about numbers, she’s also the second newborn baby girl I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. For some reason most of my newborn sessions have been boys. Celeste’s parents received a gift certificate for a Brand New session from their church family—what a great way to congratulate a family on their new arrival!

Celeste slept through her entire shoot. Having four other siblings around means she sleeps through just about anything and everything, and that sure helped us out! The session was smooth sailing for this little girl and we even got to incorporate lots of personal family items that make these images more meaningful for the parents. I love when we get to do that. Enjoy!

2012 Woodstock North High School Senior Rep | Andi Kille

Meet Andi, my second 2012 senior rep at at Woodstock North High School (my other Woodstock North rep is Meghan Jensen). We had a great session starting at the Woodstock square and wrapping up on some very awesome conservation land. I don’t know the official name of the conservation area we were shooting at but we renamed it Ticksville because ticks were everywhere! Andi and her mom eradicated three of them off Andi alone. Needless to say there would be no sitting in the weeds photos there! Despite the ticks and enormous ant hill we disrupted, Andi was a trooper and rocked her session.

While our shoot started with the sun dodging in and out of the clouds, eventually the clouds let up and we had some great light to work in. Gotta love those fading sun shots!
