Johnsburg (Growing) Family Session

by ryan on August 9, 2011

Family Portrait Session | Ryan Klos Photography, Woodstock, IL portrait photographer.

I come from a big family of five kids, and growing up was always a blast. Now my brother and his wife have a big family. They’ve outdone my mom and dad and have five kids with one on the way—number six will actually arrive any day now. They’re not crazy. They’re blessed with a big beautiful family. And I have the pleasure of documenting them as they grow.

They wanted portraits done before number six arrives (still not sure if it’s a boy or a girl), you know, while they’re still a small family ;) We had a great session at a relative’s farm in Spring Grove. The setting sun provided beautiful warm light to play in and, as you can see below, we made some wonderful portraits! So glad to be connected to this growing family.

Keep your eyes out for a newborn session within the next few weeks! Enjoy!

Growin’ Up | Twins, Johnny and Alexis

by ryan on August 2, 2011

1-year-old Children's Portratis | Ryan Klos Photography, Woodstock, IL portrait photographer.

On a very hot morning in July I had the pleasure of meeting twins Johnny and Alexis for their one-year portraits. We met at Volo Bog and by 9:15 a.m. we were all sweating buckets—these two one-year-olds held up great though! Despite the heat, sweat and sun, we made some great portraits and had a blast doing it.

I loved watching Johnny and Alexis interact and noticing the differences in their mannerisms and reactions. Alexis wanted no part of being in the grass, especially if it touched her feet. Johnny didn’t seem to mind, he had no problem crawling through it to chase down the camera. When we put Alexis in the grass, she sat for a moment and then the tears started rolling. Just not sure about that texture yet!

Enjoy some portraits from our set!

Growin’ Up | Quincy (1 year)

1-year-old Children's Portratis | Ryan Klos Photography, Woodstock, IL portrait photographer.

I love seeing past clients come in for updated portraits. A few weeks ago I posted about Carson’s newborn and 1 year portraits, and now I had the pleasure of photographing Quincy’s (I photographed his newborn session last summer).

It’s always fun to see how children grow and change in a year. Quincy is a fun, bouncy little boy with plenty of energy and a smile that will melt your heart. We did his Growin’ Up session at George Williams college in Wisconsin on Geneva Lake. It was my first time shooting there and it was great! It’s a small college that’s well manicured and full of great locations for portraits. I’m sure I’ll be doing more sessions there in the future.

We had a great session climbing stairs, singing songs and playing by the water. Have a look!

Brand New | Evelyn

by ryan on July 6, 2011

Newborn Baby Portraits | Ryan Klos Photography, Woodstock, IL portrait photographer.

Meet Evie, short for Evelyn, my current record holder for longest newborn session :) This little cutie was too excited about her session that she couldn’t and wouldn’t sleep. Well, it might have had something to do with the rather sizable diaper blowout, bathing her momma in spit-up and then needing to eat, but once she got it all out of her system (sorry for the pun), Evie finally took a nap. And once she was down, she was quite the angel! Her parents were good sports about all the challenges and made it through just fine, if not a little cleaner than when they started ;)

While Evie slept, we made some beautiful portraits. And despite the record she set, it was a great shoot and I had a good time talking and hanging with her parents, both wonderful people. Enjoy!
